Warming up!!

February is almost over, the weather is starting to warm up. The local Ice Bowl has come and gone. Thanks again to all the who came out! The indoor leagues have wrapped up. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported these programs.

Now we look to the next season and what it brings us. But before the new season begins the Club is hosting an event to raise funds for the kids programs.

Battlefords Disc Golf has some BIG plans to get the kids into disc golf this year! To make sure we can make the kids’ disc golf experience memorable, we need to raise funds to make it happen!

This isn’t your ordinary fundraiser though…..

The BDGC has put together one of the best shows to hit the Battlefords in 2020! We are ecstatic about announcing that we will have the famous Las Vegas / Cirque de Soleil hypnotist Jamie James performing 2 shows at The Battlefords Legion Hall!!

Friday, March 27th & Saturday March 28th a limited amount of tickets are available to see this 18+ fully licensed show, with 100% of the proceeds going towards youth disc golf programs in The Battlefords!! Only $20 gets you in on an epic evening of hilarious antics by our victims ER volunteers on stage!

Tickets are available NOW by calling Shawn @ 306-480-9668 or at K&K Glass, Nutec Embriodery or Kerr’s Cleaners in The Battlefords!

Come have a blast & help us raise funds to make the 2020 disc golf season for the youth a memorable one!!

See you there!

Changing of the seasons

As the days grow short and the weather turns, the club looks back on our accomplishments. We built a new course at Jackfish Lake, held a spring tournament at Centennial, the usual Canada Day weekend at both Centennial Park and Fort Battleford, held one of the biggest events we have ever held at Jackfish lake The 2019 Gold Eagle open (you may have heard of it !! :)), and capped off an awesome league season! With all these accomplisments we have lots to look back on.

Speaking of the new course, you should play it! Lots of people are making their way out there! The Gold Eagle open was held at this location and it made for a phenomenal tourney. I even had to opportunity to play it in the fall, the colors out there are unreal! When family flies in from across the pond they need to see this course! It not only showcases what disc golf is in Saskatchewan but also the surreal beauty we have in our backyards!

As we wrap up the year, I cant help but look ahead at the next few months. We will be calling an A.G.M. soon. I ask for everyone that has any interest in the sport to take part, even your new. The club will be rolling out some new things and lots will change. Stay tuned for more updates.

Winter rounds will also be starting before you know it, Bag Tag is still wrapping up. Look for a group of diehard players once the snow flies!

See you on the course!!!

Lazy days of Summer?

At the beginning of the month we hosted the Oh! Canada Tournament, thank you to all the players that came out and made the event a success! Following that some players made their way to Edmonton for the RCC (River City Cup) last weekend. We had a huge showing at that event. Congratulations to the winners of these events!

In August we will have a slight break in events in North Battleford. but we will see players doing more traveling as other clubs are hosting their own events. One of the big ones being the Saskatchewan open in Regina (see link). For list of events in the province and beyond go to Disc Golf Scene.

Even though the club is not hosting any event in August, it doesnt mean we are sitting still. In September we are pleased to host the 2019 Gold Eagle open. Before the event much still has to happen to the course at Jackfish Lake. The course is playable but there are still things that need to be done. If you are interested in lending a hand check out this link to one volunteer event we are having.

Summer

The weather may not seem like it but summer has begun! The club has had a busy couple of weeks. We’ve had club members going to Schools in North Battleford teaching the students all about this great game. A huge thank you goes out to Shawn Gratton, Beau Gratton, Meike Gratton, Kristy Bird, James Gerlinsky,Adam Bolig, Dalas Pawliw, Maarten van Assem, Kevin Zimmer and Evan Zimmer for taking the time to teach the kids. Also a thank you to the Schools for inviting us. I know the club members had as much fun as the kids.

This past week also saw Battleford Disc Golf Clubs Adam Bolig Team up with Disc Golf Saskatchewan to represent Disc Golf at the SHSAA (Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association) conference. This event was a great boost for the awareness of disc golf. The next day some club members took the time to show the delegates what disc golf was all about! The club members took the delegates for a round of night Disc Golf in centennial park, with fresh new disc in hand!

All the while this is going on, a couple members also took the time to ready 4 more tee boxes for cement. So while they have not been poured please stay off the tee box and play from an alternate tee box.

As the School year winds down we are looking to the long lazy days of summer ….. well kinda lazy! The club is kicking summer off with a bang! On Canada Day long weekend we are proud to present the Innovation Credit Union Oh Canada tournament, this two day will cover two courses over the span of two days! With multiple division this is bound to be a great event, with lots of support form local businesses. We look forward to seeing you there!
